We have to stop cramming so much stuff into one weekend. I am exhausted.
Friday night we had tickets to a pasta fundraiser with our two friends. We weren’t sure what exactly the fundraiser was for as it said “Garden and Playground Stag and Doe”. The food did not disappoint. The dinner was hosted at a Club Roma, and they know how to do pasta. There was penne, meatballs, sausage, peppered steak, pizza, breadsticks, buns, and salad. I forgot to take a picture as the dinner started at 7pm (about an hour after my dinner time) and I was getting hangry. Yes hangry, that’s our friend Jess’ word. When you are so hungry you start to get nasty angry. Picture forgetting aside, we all had heaping plates of food and wolfed it down with a vengeance. Everything was delicious. We ate our monies worth and it was nice to know that the proceeds went to help some local garden somewhere… We were the only four sitting at a table for ten; no one came to sit with us. All of the other tables were full. We had a good laugh as after we finished eating we decided, as a few more people were coming in the door, to try and leave quickly so that they wouldn’t sit down with us and it feel awkward if we decided to leave. We bolted from the table in a dine and dash fashion. (Don’t worry, we bought the tickets ahead of time!) Great food, Great friends. Oh and we followed it up with Marble Slab for dessert. Yum. (This part had more detail as I wrote it right afterwards, my entries are always works in progress…)
Saturday morning resulted in cleaning up the house. Man, I hate house work. DETEST. DESPISE. I complain about this all of the time: How are my cat and dog not naked?!?!? The fur every where is enough to drive someone insane. You can sweep and vacuum until the cows come home and you can never get rid of the fur. I LOVE my furry babies, just the excess fur can be overwhelming sometimes. First thing we do when we win the lottery is hire a maid.
That evening, we had a get together with another group of great friends. Snacks, wine, kitchen dance party, casino. The fridge was violated. People wore paper bags and wrestling masks. Too much fun. (No picture sharing to protect the innocent.)
I have never been one to party at bars or casinos or drink much, and the older I get the more old lady I become. 1 am is way past my bedtime. I woke up at 6am with a headache Sunday which I believe was a bit of a hangover/combination lack of sleep. I had 2.5 glasses of wine (I seldom indulge in alcoholic beverages, so I am a light weight when it comes to alcohol.) No matter what time I go to bed at, I still wake up early, it’s a curse really.
Sunday we laid around, I caught up on some work and then had to nap.
I didn’t cook/bake anything exciting this weekend. In fact, Sunday we splurge and had Burger King. Funny how greasy, salty, crappy junk food makes you feel better after a night of partying.
Next weekend marks the return of our hockey season. I am counting the minutes!!!
