COUPONS!!!

Honestly, couponing is a high for me; when I score an amazing deal or free shit THAT I USE, I float through the rest of my day (I am easily pleased). My favourite coupons are for food as groceries are expensive. If I ever score absurd amounts of free stuff, I hope to donate it.
Sale on Mustard plus coupon = FREE.  I donated these mustards to the local food bank.  Pantene Hair treatment was on clearance plus coupon = FREE.  I kept those as I use them.  Ivory Sale plus coupon $1.50 each.  Not bad!

The trick is to watch for sales and team up sales with coupons!  Best deals!  Sometimes they result in being FREE!

Want to know how to coupon?:

Check outMrsJanuary.com, she is from Mississauga and is my couponing hero.  MrsJanuary.com is the best couponing website, she has all the couponing how to broken down for you! It’s helpful to follow her on Facebook as well so you can see if there are special coupons posted throughout the day. She has a coupon database where she has posted all the links to coupons, including printable coupons.

My own helpful hint: start a new email address solely for couponing, helps keeps your regular email account clean.

Sites that mail coupons to you:

Brandsaver.ca
Save.ca
GoCoupons.ca
Websaver.ca

My favourite term you should know:

FPC – FREE PRODUCT COUPON. Some companies want you to try their stuff for free, especially if they introduce a new line of products.  They mail you FPCs to your house, think of it as a free sample but they don’t have to pay a big pile of shipping costs. You can get FPCs by requesting them either by emailing the company or if they have an event on Facebook. “Like” all of your favourite companies on Facebook, you never know when they may issue some FPCs. In the past, I scored free chocolate, free hair dyes, free juice, free tea, ice cream, free frozen dinners and other free samples. I have found that FPC’s seem to most plentiful around November and stick around through to February and then taper off a bit. At the beginning of this year my Mom and I were super shocked to both receive a box from Kellogg's, filled with their new products! These boxes also included coupons which we later paired up with sales and in turn obtained MORE free food items.
These boxes were couriered to our houses!
Every time I search for coupons, I have a second email accout I use so I can have stuff sent to my Mom as well as she doesn’t have the internet. She is my #1 couponing buddy as we trade back and forth the coupons we use. This has worked really well for us to maximize our savings.

These bad boys were waiting for me when I got home.  I sent Fresh Express an email telling them how much I love their salad and they sent me these coupons in the mail.  Team them up with a sale and I will be eating free salad soon!  These are exciting for me as they are my first "produce" coupon.  Most of the time food coupons are for prepackaged foods.

Store Policies to know: (There are more stores then the following, these are the ones I frequent)

Accept Printed Coupons:
Walmart, Shoppers Drug, Zellers, Zehrs, No Frills

Stores who Price Match (PM): Have to bring a current competitors’ flyer!
Walmart, Zellers, Canadian Tire
(Canadian Tire not only Price Matches but gives you 10% of the difference in Canadian Tire money, it’s written on their buggy returns in the parking lot, I assume in the store as well, but I know it’s on the buggy returns for sure)

“Scanning Code of Practice”:

It is against the law for a store to put a sticker or a price on an item and then charge more for it at the till. You as the consumer HAVE to be AWARE of this.

Some stores Participate in the “Scanning Code of Practice” which helps the stores insure that they are giving you the most honest/best service possible. Each store has a slight variation to the name of the practice, but if you get the words “scan, code, practice”, you should be good.

Scanning Code of Practice is as follows:

If an item is $10 or MORE and scans incorrectly, you are to receive $10 OFF the FIRST item. If you have more then one of the same items, you get $10 off the first one and then the remaining are changed to the correct price.

If an item is $10 or LESS and scans incorrectly, you are to receive the FIRST item FREE, yes, FREE. If you have more then one of the same item, you get the first item FREE and the remaining are changed to the correct price.

YOU HAVE TO TELL/REMIND THE CLERK. They will just change the price to the correct price, YOU HAVE TO REMIND them. I like the“Oh, doesn’t this store abide by the Scanning Code of Practice?” If they don’t give it to you, ask politely to speak to the manager. Be POLITE but FIRM!!!

Stores who practice “Scanning Code of Practice”:

Walmart, Zehrs, No Frills, Canadian Tire
(Walmart has it written on the platform where you are to sign your credit card slip, BESIDE the debit terminal at each cash register.)
(Zehrs has a humongous sign on the wall over the cashier’s heads.)

DO NOT PAY MORE; the stores established these practices in order to give you the best service possible: LEARN IT AND USE IT!!!

Coupons at work:

Last night's dinner was leftover Coca Cola Can Roast Chicken in a hard taco. This past weekend I scored these two free taco kits as my Mom and I were both sent FPCs, as she doesn’t use Taco kits, she gave me her FPC.

Chicken Tacos - FREE taco shells, made them taste that much better!
