My Dad and I are known as the "Gawkers" in our family. While driving we may spend more time looking at the side of the road then we do what is in front of us. One of my sister's favourite stories involves her in my car on her moving day and me asking her "Do you still need a coffee table?" And she said "Yeah, why?" I replied "I saw a really nice looking one down the road." I saw it in my rear view mirror. It wasn't a bad coffee table and considering her dog ended up eating it, the fact it was free from the side of the road didn't bother her so much.
I am not a hoarder by any means. In fact, I typically do six month purges just to make sure the crap doesn't build up too much. The stuff I pick up usually gets scrubbed up and used. I always have ideas to paint and do stuff with my finds, but this doesn't always happen.
A few years ago, my sister and I found this trolley on the side of the road. Grant it, it looked really bad before hand. But with some scrubbing, sanding and painting, it turned out alright. I used it this year for Christmas to help clear the table and bring the dirty dishes to the kitchen. I don’t know why I wanted the trolley so bad but I thought it would be useful. I think with spray paint the whole project cost me $8.
