Lees, Cupcakes and Elf

Last night my husband had to work late so my sister and her man invited me out to dinner.  I had planned for this so I knew this meal was going to be a cheat meal, it’s all good, I budgeted for these calories.

We hit up Lee’s in Niagara Falls.  I love Lees.  It’s your standard Canadian version of Chinese food: chicken balls, eggs rolls etc…  Lees has been around forever.  My Mom remembers going there over thirty years ago.  I don’t know much about the owners, if they are the same owners all these years, and I don’t know when it actually opened, but I do know that I am never disappointed when I eat their food.  Very generous servings AND the prices as very reasonable!

When you walk in, you feel the decor has not been updated since the seventies.  That’s alright because you don’t have much time to think about the décor because all of the tantalizing aromas start making you mouth water and all you can think of is food.  The friendly staff rushes quickly to greet you and you are seated in a blink of an eye.  They are prompt and courteous; you can’t find more efficient staff!

They have an extensive menu and we all opted to do a combo plate each.  I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls, Chicken Fried Rice and Kung Pau Chicken with a Spring Roll.  (They have the BEST spring rolls!)  My sister ordered the same but went crazy and had wonton soup and an egg roll instead of the spring roll.  Her man had the Beef Satay, Chicken Fried Rice and I think the chicken balls, to tell you the truth I don’t recall all of it as when our food came out I talked their ears off and wolfed down my food.  Lees has the freshest food!  Nothing is dried out; it’s always fresh, moist and super tasty.  I have never been disappointed with Lees.

Sorry, this is about a third of my plate left.  When food is this good I always seem to forget to take a picture of the plate BEFORE I dig in.  Bah! haha
We had a great conversation.  I love these two peeps.

Of course we busted out the fortune cookies.

And we are all 8 years old, hahaha.

Afterwards my sister and her man came back to my house for cupcakes and a movie.  They are all for my Christmas movies in November and we indulged in Elf.

We tried Designer Delights Cupcakes.  Sometime in the last month or so, 12 Tin Cupcakery closed up shop and a new cupcake store is in their place.  The icing was just as yummy as 12 Tin but the flavour selection did not seem as big.  The cupcakes themselves seemed to have a cake mix taste to them but the icing was yummy.  Overall it was ok.

I had a lot of fun with two of my favourite people.

Great food.  Great Peeps.  Great Times.
