CHRISTMAS MOVIES!!!

Christmas is coming; I can feel it in my bones. Now that I have pretty much shed my sickypooness, I am feeling far more festive for Christmas then I did for Hallowe’en. I am planning to start my major house cleaning this weekend so I can be ready to start pulling out some Christmas décor next week.

I know everyone has different “rules” as to when they decorate for Christmas. I myself like to take my time and enjoy the decorating; I don’t want it ever to feel like a nuisance or a “job”. I want to enjoy it, hence my decision to start the decorating before December. December is so chaotic for us; I can’t imagine adding decorating to the mix.
So what does this mean for you my lovely reader? More Christmas themed entries!!! I can’t help it, I have been bitten by the bug.

I decided to dedicate this post to my most favouritist Christmas movies. Some of them are classics, some of them are from my childhood, some are cheesy but they are endearing to me anyways. Every year I try to watch these joyful movies, if I skip them, my Christmas does not feel complete.
  1. It’s a Wonderful Life – I LOVE this movie. A huge pet peeve of mine is when people way It’s a Wonderful Life is depressing, I couldn’t disagree more! I find the story so inspiring. Growing up my Dad and I would sit choked up watching this movie. When Harry comes back to war, my hair stands up on end EVERY single time.

  1. White Christmas – I LOVE this movie. EVERY Christmas Eve my parents and my younger sister and I watched this movie as we feasted on a meal of appetizers and yummy finger foods. The singing, the story, the era: I love the whole darned thing. It has a great underlying message of showing appreciation to someone by helping them out, surrounded with red sparkle and snow. This movie makes me excited as my fingers type these words.

  1. Home Alone – I LOVE this movie. It’s hilarious, it’s touching, it has one of the greatest soundtracks. I remember seeing this movie for the first time in the theatre with my Mom and younger sister. EVERY single year since, I have watched this movie multiple times throughout the season. However, I am not the biggest fan around; we have a die-hard friend who watches it nightly though out the year. SERIOUSLY. I want to live in the McAlister House. Just not on the third floor!

  1. A Muppet Family Christmas – This was originally a TV special back in the 1987. I LOVE the Muppets and all of them make an appearance, including the Fraggles! Watch as Elmo makes an appearance long before he took centre stage and I personally think Animal steals the show when he answers the phone “MERRY CHRISTMAS! GIVE ME PRESENTS!!!” I die each time I see that scene. The worst thing about this movie is that it is next to impossible to buy brand new for under $80. But you can watch for it for FREE on youtube.com here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBEaFjD4XOM

  1. Home Alone 2 – I love this movie. It’s no where near as good as the first one but it’s still awesome in it’s own right. Ever since I saw this movie 20 years ago, (Yes. 20 years ago. Anyone else feel old?!?) I have wanted to celebrate a Christmas in New York City. Full on Kevin style.

  1. All I Want For Christmas – This movie is a cheesy early 90’s movie that I have loved since I saw it for the first time in the theatre. It too adds to my wish of celebrating a Christmas in New York City. In a fancy brownstone decorated to the nines of course.

  1. The Polar Express – I saw this movie for the first time with my Mom and my cousins. It is a beautiful movie, even if my Mom and I both got motion sick watching it on the big screen. I can watch it with no problem with my TV.

  1. Love Actually – England at Christmas? Yes please! I have always wanted to visit England and this movie is so much fun and I love the mix of the 20 or so different story lines.

  1. The Holiday - Ahhh, again Christmas in England, this movie makes me feel so cozy. The funny thing is I feel like not much happens in the movie, it’s a laid back chick flick, but I love the cozy Christmas in England vibe to it. I love the cozy sweaters and heading to an idyllic, cozy British cottage and eat a pile of chocolate and carbs.

  1. A Muppet Christmas Carol – I love the story of A Christmas Carol in general, but anything the Muppets do are infinitely better then an original.

  1. Rudolph and the Island and Misfit Toys – Classic. How can this not be on someone’s list?

  1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas – The Boris Karloff cartoon version of course.

  1. The Nativity – This movie is so beautiful. My only beef is the snow-white sheep and the poor old Sheppard who was covered in dirt; if he were that dirty, the sheep would have been too.

  1. Elf – HILARIOUS. ‘Nough said.

  1. The Santa Claus – I love this movie; it’s funny and I love the reasoning that is given for every question that children ask.

  1. Frosty the Snowman – Messy, messy, messy. (Don’t tell me you don’t find yourself saying that year round when presented with the opportunity to say the word “Mess”. Oh, you don’t? Just me? Never mind then…)

All of these movies have to be watched with Hot Chocolate and cookies. It’s a rule. Don’t look at me, I didn’t make the rule. (I lie, I totally made the rule.)
What are some of your favourite Christmas movies?
