Lawrence of Arabia and Just a Fool

Last night we went to see Lawrence of Arabia.  This movie was shown at the Cineplex Odeon, if you recall, I have previously mentioned that they show classic movies once a month. (For $6 a piece!  Good deal!)   Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments are my husband's three favourite movies so of course we had to go!  I have never seen Lawrence before and knowing ahead of time that it was four hours long, I made my husband take me to Dollarama before hand so we could smuggle in reasonably priced snacks. I.E. CHOCOLATE. I am just like my Mom, if you want her to do something that she either does not want to do or if it's going to take a long time, it's best to be armed with chocolate for her, it's not a bribe, it's more to keep her complacent. Like Mother like daughter.  Four hours sitting in the theatre with my crappy back and knees, there better be chocolate to help distract me.

I wanted to see the movie and was so glad I did.  It was amazing. Even the slower parts had a lot of funny stuff. Overall the story is sad but it's beautifully told and has a sprinkling of British humour.  I you are not familiar with Lawrence of Arabia, briefly it takes place during WW1, Lawrenceis a British solider who helps the Arabs secure their freedom.  Lawrence himself is kind of nuts in a good way.  Peter O'Toole who plays Lawrence is a hottie.

If you have 4 hours to kill one day, rent it, it's an epic film.

Side note: Christina Aguilera's new album was released yesterday.  I love her.  She is hands down my favourite female singer, no body can sing like her.  I own all of her albums, even Bionic which didn't do so well, which is a shame as I liked it.  Anyways, I will be buying Lotus soon, (or better yet get it for Christmas...  hint hint) but in the mean time I have been listening to select songs on YouTube.com. I loved her first single "Your Body" and I love her duet "Make the World Move" with CeLo Green and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her duet with Blake Shelton "Just a Fool". I love country music and this is definitely country influenced which I love; I love when two genres collide.  As far as I know Christina has never done country before.  I lurve it.  Listen to it and let me know what you think.
