Saturday morning I was up early. I did my Ripped in 30. I then went and had my blood work done. I timed it perfectly as my family practitioner is opened Saturday mornings, and I had him look at my bump on my wrist. I fell off our front step back in July and I was left with a weird swollen bit on the wrist bone. Nothing broke, but the bump never went a way. The doctor took one look at it and said it was a Ganglion cyst. (aka the Bible cyst, as they used to whack them with big, heavy books to break them.) The doctor froze it and drained the cyst. I have a bruise but the bump is gone! My first question to the doctor was: “Will I be able to play hockey tonight?!” Clearance was granted!

Zooz had three Timber Wolves who were nice and fluffy as it looked like their winter coats have come in nicely. Even though I was able to see Timber Wolves in the summer, it was awesome to see some again. They are just so beautiful.
The other highlight for me was when I fed a giraffe out of my hand. Obviously, I know they are tall, but when you are standing beside one and look up, it’s amazing to see how tall they are in real life. This handsome fellow stuck his giant purple tongue out and wrapped it around my hand to secure the food. He was very gentle. This was not on my bucket list, but it should have been as I will remember that forever. It’s not every day you get to feed a giraffe.
We had missed the primates on our way by the first time so we doubled back to see them. While we were there, we started to hear the oddest sound. The sound kept getting louder, as more were chiming in; when we rounded the corner, we found the source of the sound. The Siamang Gibbons! They are highly endangered, cute, little fellas who were making the oddest noise I have ever heard. At one point, all nine of them were going so loud I had to plug my ears a bit as they were deafening. They puff up a bag of air in their throats, sort of like a bullfrog or the bagpipes and were so loud. I know I keep saying it; the oddest sound kept coming out of them. I have nothing to compare it to and lack the ability to describe it. You can hear it HERE: Imagine that at deafening levels above your head and all around you. They put on quite a performance.
We went home and both fell a sleep and awoke with a start about an hour before we had to leave for hockey. We flew to pack our hockey bags and wolf down some dinner.
This week our team lost 1-0. I am trying not to beat myself up as the girl who scored on our goalie was in front of me, I thought I had her tied up but she was just too fast for me and out maneuvered me. Bah. Nevertheless, it was a very good game and a lot of fun. My husband’s team kicked some arse and pulled out a 2-1 victory.
Sunday my husband had to work so I busted out a few baked goods: (Links to come!)
Not-so-Healthy Peanut Butter Oats and Honey Squares
Healthy Rubbery Banana Cookies (They at least taste good, the texture just sucks) Healthy
Strawberry Shortcake Muffins (I was lazy and dumped them in a regular pan and made squares instead)
I prepped dinner. Then I headed off to my friend’s baby shower. Great fun! Cutesy stuff!
Upon returning, I cooked the Roast Chicken and Potatoes. Which hit the spot on a cool Fall like day. We dug into the not-so-Healthy Peanut Butter Oats and Honey Squares. They were a nice snack to enjoy as we caught up on SONS OF ANARCHY. We watched the first three episodes of this newest season. Episode 3, I don’t even have words for it. I don’t want to spoil it, but episode 3 is crazy.
That sums up my weekend folks!
