(To my American readers, this weekend is
I love Thanksgiving! A time to catch up with family all while stuffing your face with gloriously, yummy goodies of course!
This year I made my standby Potato Bacon Tart (AKA the heart attack dish) and Apple Pie. Every year growing up, my Dad made apple pie. He makes a mean apple pie and crust. When I became a teenager, somehow, this task was pawned off on me. I am terrible at making pie crust (Pastry is a very fine art, one that this girl has attempted to master over the years and has given up, so frozen pie crust from now on! I know a losing battle when I see one.) (Recipes to follow!)
In the oven I have a Sweet Potato Pie baking. I have never made a Sweet Potato Pie, but a co-worker of mine brought it to a potluck about a month ago and after much begging, he shared the recipe. It was in theory a very simple recipe but more work then I was expecting. (Recipe to follow!) Right now it appears that part of it is overflowing onto the cookie sheet I luckily placed underneath! Bah! But it smells AMAZING!!!
I can’t wait to dig into them all!
I have a lot to be thankful for but here are the most important:
My husband, family, friends, good health, a roof over my head, food in my belly and my awesome hockey team that won 4-2 last night!
